Filoli Flower Show 2017

This is my first time to exhibit at Filoli Flower Show in Woodside.  More info of this arrangement can be found here.

Here are my favorite six arrangements from the show.

#1
Glendy Tseng, Ikebana for Children
“The Fairy Wing”

Fantail Willow provides a playful structure for the little fairy and butterflies.  Poppy pods also add a nice magical touch.

#2
Joseph Salgado, Joseph Victor Florals
“Genesis”

This arrangement also makes great use of Fantail Willow and Poppy Pods.  The birch bark wrapped container is beautiful while yellow pops out against the glass windows.

#3
Catherine Chui

“The Hidden Gem”

I never knew about the plant name, Mock Orange, until I see her material list.  This is the one with skinny branches with small white flowers.  I like this small delicate arrangment.

#4
Arlene Boyle, Violette Designs
“Garden Fun”

I like the choices of her materials, including the orange/copper color beard iris, cream color peony, apricot color sweet peas and nectaroscordum (allium).

#5
Pico Soriano, Pico Soriano Designs
“The Big Bang”

That’s a lot of work to put all the materials together.  The rustic apple branch and birch bark contrasts with the colorful red roses and pink carnations.

#6
Katia Barrett
“Timeless”

It’s a lot of planning to put the materials together in this heavy clock shaped frame.  It is hard to see in this photo, but scabiosa pods and poddy pods can give a unique touch.

Peninsula Rose Society (my gardening club) also exhibited single stem roses.

At the opening night preview party, we ran into Ivan’s ex-colleage and his wife, Qin.
Percy, Filoli’s resident peacock, was welcoming guests.
