Smoke Tree

Smoke tree, also known as smoke bush, has unique, rounded foliage. This green variety, ‘Golden Spirit,’ is less common than the burgundy ‘Royal Purple.’ The foliage emerges lime green in early spring, deepens to rich green in summer as airy, fuzzy flowers appear, and turns shades of reddish orange in fall. I enjoy using the full foliage in arrangements to hide the mechanics inside a vase.
