ArtScapes 2025

Last week was all about setting up and supporting ArtScapes, the Sogetsu Bay Area Chapter exhibit at the County Fair Building in Golden Gate Park. As the official photographer, I snapped over 1,200 photos in just two hours.

This was one of my two arrangements for the show, featuring these gorgeous dahlias from Beeline Blooms in Ben Lomond.
Materials: dahlias, smoke tree branches, cape rush, driftwood

For my second arrangement, I chose orange dahlias and the similar bright brown tones of eucalyptus while adding white Japanese anemones for contrast.  Everyone was so curious about the eucalyptus bark. I actually collected them a year ago but only recently discovered that soaking them in warm water makes them curl unexpectedly. I shaped them while drying in buckets until they set.
Materials: dahlias, Japanese anemone, star jasmine vines, eucalyptus bark

Many thanks to Katsuko Thielke Sensei (the 4th from the left) for her guidance.
