Bouquets to Art 2022

It was refreshing to visit Bouquets to Art at de Young Museum for the first time since 2018.  Going on Day 6 (the last day) of the event is not a good idea in terms of freshness of flowers, but surprisingly it was not crowded for Sunday.  Masami (former Sogetsu classmate) and I were able to enjoy each arangement without fighting with other photographers.  The number of exhibitors was down this year, but I have to say these are my two favorites.

Exhibitor: Im Chan Cindy Ho
Complimentary Art:  “Rhapsody” (2002) by Richard Mayhew
The purple, orange and lime green color combination is so unique.

Exhibitors: Hunter-Lee, Katsuko Thielke; Yvonne Ip (assistant)
Complimentary art (not seen in this photo) : “Sea Gull Motive (Sea Thunder or The Wave)” (1928) by Arthur Dove

Katsuko Thielke (master Sogetsu teacher) created her signature arrangement with dried and spray-paintedd flax leaves, using a pasta machine.  She told me last month that she had originally learned this leaf manipulation technique from her student from Europe.
