Fall Color Turkey
Bird of Paradise is a tropical flower native to South Africa, but it blooms from autumn through winter in Northern California. While Georgia O’Keefe’s famous painting is white Bird of Paradise, this orange one called “Strelitzia reginae” is the most commonly found here. It grows vigorously in full sun and requires little care. One stem is enough to make a statement thanks to its striking shape and enormous size. This is a turkey-shaped arrangement for Thanksgiving. I collected different shapes and colors of autumn leaves from sidewalk trees. Despite extreme heat in summer, it is amazing to see some trees strived to display spectacular fall colors.
