Filoli Flower Show 2018

This is my second time to exhibit at Filoli Flower Show.  More info about my display can be found here.

Filoli Flower Show had dedicated areas (Kitchen and Reception Room) for Ikebana displays this year.

Here are my favorite choices.

“Butterfly” by Katy Lee
Splitting Ti Leaf looks like elegant butterfly wings.  White tulips that are twisting to different directions add a nice soft touch.

“Celebrate Difference” by Jennie Cho Li
The way she weaves flax leaves mimics the shape of fishbone cactus.  It’s whimsical.

“Sky Dance” by Yvonne Ip
She ran New Zealand flax leaves through a pasta machine and dried them out, which is a signature technique Katsuko Thielke teaches to her students.  I was worried about her kenzan from toppling and gave my floral putty.  It is amazing to see foxtail lilies and Banksia are standing straight.  The tall arrangement goes well with the spacious Reception Room.

Peninsula Rose Society
Fellow members of my gardening club had a display of individual roses in Butler’s Pantry.
