Happy New Year 2021

This is a traditional Ikebana arrangement for New Year’s Day, using Mizuhiki (Japanese rice paper cord for special occasions). Mizuhiki is normally knotted like a bow, but I like them to be loose and look informal. This arrangement was submitted for Sogetsu San Francisco Bay Area Branch’s holiday video.

While lily’s stamens can be removed in order to keep the flower fresh and avoid pollen stains, these gold stamens are naturally beautiful and add new year festivity like fireworks.

Materials: Stargazer lily, Formosa firethorn, dried Magnolia branches, Pine, Noble Fir, Mizuhiki
