Orange Cymbidium Orchid
Katsuko “Biko” Thielke sensei hosted a beautiful flower show at her home last weekend. Her thirty some students participated, and it was fun to meet many of the exhibitors for the first time. The show’s themes were focused on curved or straight lines, as well as complementary or contrasting colors. My arrangement featured orange hues and curves, with a surprise find from Safeway: a stunning Cymbidium Orchid. I incorporated jasmine wood stems that I foraged a few years ago after a major pruning. This arrangement is expected to last two weeks or longer.
Materials: Cymbidium Orchid, dried Jasmine stems, Birds of Paradise (hand-torn foliage), Nandina (still orange before turning red), Leucadendron (Jubilee Crown)
