Railroad Journeys in Japan | Episode 1: Hakodate, Hokkaido

This travelogue series is not all about flowers and nature, but this is the first “leg” my trip to Hokkaido.

I saw ikebana arrangements everywhere at Hanabishi Hotel in Yunokawa Onsen (video @ 2:50).  At Hakodate Tropical Botanical Garden (video @ 3:30), Bougainvillea and hibiscus are very colorful, but I enjoy seasonal and local flowers like this pink dogwood I saw when I was walking.  Dogwood normally blooms in springtime in mainland Japan.  So, that tells how cool Hokkaido is in July.
