Summer Breeze
This is my second time to exhibit at Filoli Flower Show. You need to come up with a title six months earlier than the event. I submitted it as “Sumemr Breeze,” something broad so that I don’t have to be constrained by the availability of materials. Luckily, I was able to find all the materials from my garden except for cala lilies and curly willow. I bought these tall materials at San Francisco Flower Mart and managed to bring them into a client’s post production facility a few blocks away. The gold vase ($10) was also from San Francisco Flower Mart. Because the materials are leaning towards the left, floral putty was used to secure a kenzan.
Materials: Calla lilies, Oakleaf Hydrangea (Snow Queen), Philadelphus (Belle Etoile), Kangaroo Paw (Bush Gold), Flax (Yellow Wave), Curly willow, Cordyline (Electric Flash), Mexican Feather Grass, Red Bunny Tails, Broom Fern, Cape Rush
My entry was placed in the kitchen of Fioli’s main house along with a half dozen Ikebana arrangements.
